Team dynamics and organisational culture at a glance!

One of the most beautiful features of our online testing system (the Wizard) that I personally find is the Group Profile. I still find it amazing that, after all team members have filled in their questionnaires, with just a few clicks, a so-called group profile can be created. At a glance, you see where the strengths of a team lie, what connects the team members, and what pitfalls and challenges exist. It's easy to create, yet it provides so much information!

Recently, I spoke with five team members of a team where collaboration was a bit challenging. The group profile clearly showed that people-oriented (green) motives were strongly present in the team. What the group profile already indicated and what the individual team members subsequently confirmed: everyone was very kind to each other, they didn't address each other. They found it difficult to give and receive feedback, resulting in an "artificial harmony." They were very kind to each other, but at the same time, not really, by not being honest and open with each other. There was a lot going on in the 'undercurrent' with each of them. This group profile thus showed the quality of the team and at the same time, the major pitfall. The positive side of this problem: they all really wanted to work on it because harmony and good collaboration were strong motivators for all of them!

What I find even more interesting is the group profile at the organisational level. A group profile can be created with the results of 2 people, but also with 200 people and even more. This allows you to nicely visualize the organisational culture. 'How do we do things here? What successes do we celebrate? What are we steering towards? What are we good at and what are we not so good at?'. For many growers, for example, I often see a strong family-oriented culture: taking good care of all employees, focusing on a pleasant atmosphere. Or, for example, a lot of attention to high quality. In short; many of these organisations have a strong internal focus, but often lack an external focus: paying attention to market developments and selling their products. This too can be made visible at a glance with the group profile. Conversations with various employees, which are still very important for a good understanding of the organisation, often confirm where the strengths and weaknesses of an organisation lie. The group profile is a wonderful tool to start a conversation about this: what is the current culture like? Who has a particularly strong influence on this? What is the desired culture? With the group profile, you have valuable information to make decisions when it comes to hiring people, but also when it comes to tactical and strategic decisions.
